Tucker Pants McGee Comes for a Visit

What? Don't you like my name for Tucker? I have no idea why I call him this but I do. I know. It makes no sense at all. I just love him so much and it just seemed to fit.

So, Mr. Tucker Pants came for a couple of overnights and did great. He is kind of small for my household though. He acts like a big dog so you really didn't even notice.  I think he would rather play with guys a little more closer in size though. And boy does he play. He is so comical how he jumps and leaps around like a frog. I think he has springs for legs.

This little guy gets along with all dogs no matter the size. He loves to play with Dozer, another Fluffy Dog looking for a foster home and/or more importantly a forever home.  Theo my hound dog was attempting to "play" with him. Now when I say "play" I mean Theo was poking at him and nipping him where he could to get him to chase him. Tucker would have played with him but Theo was being too mouthy and kind of scared him a little instead so he stuck closer to me. Plus when Theo plays he growls a lot which sounds scarier than it really is.
Here is Tucker just getting to know the yard. I do not have a fenced in yard as you can see so have to use a tie out or actually a dog run on a line so the fosters can go all around the yard and run with my dogs.

Sniffing and marking.

As always he came for a visit on my lap. He loves to snuggle and when you're sitting he likes to sit too for a few minutes before something sparks his fancy. Then he takes off like the wind but comes back to check on you. Awe, so sweet.
Now he's really investigating. He probably smells the rabbits that hop around "down below" as we call the bottom half of our yard. He had so much fun just sniffing around and doing what dogs love to do.
Oh, what's that?

More sniffing. His nose is really getting a good work out. Later on in the day Kinsey scared a bunny out of this area. I wonder if it was there when Tucker was sniffing around?

Whenever I foster, the new dogs have to meet my cat, Pumpkin. He is not your normal cat though. He is not afraid of dogs at all which actually was a bad thing once. I believe a coyote had him one night when he snuck out through 16 dog legs(right? is my math right? 4 dogs times 4 legs = 16 legs). We can't believe he survived. He had puncture wounds all over his head. The vet said the coyote was probably carrying him around by his head. Now mind you the cat has no front claws. Needless to say we are pretty cautious not to let him sneak out anymore.
Anyways, Tucker did great. He play bowed to him at first which was just hilarious. Then he kind of ran side to side to get Pumpkin to chase him. Nope, not interested. Pumpkin just meowed and wanted to rub on him. I'm sure if I fostered Tucker that these guys would become the best of friends like Peace puppy and him.

Sorry for the blurriness but Tucker is a fast moving guy sometimes.
Tucker loves his babies. I forgot to take them home with me when I "stole" him from the daycare. No worries as I have plenty at home. He loved tossing this bunny stuffy around. At one point Badger saw it and stole it, taking it to his kennel. Jerk. Badger is a collector of all things. Stuffed animals, plates, cups, silverware, boxes, basically anything he can pick up and drag to his kennel. Yep, this is where the training comes in.
Tucker had a great time at my house. He played with my son and snuggled with both of them. He is totally crate trained. He ate in his crate and slept all night without a peep. He is potty trained too. I watched him closely and caught him marking once in two days. Kinsey has steals blankets off the couch and will drag them to the middle of the floor and suck on them. He marked her one blanket which I said no and immediately took him outside. After that I put a pee pad on him which was dry when I checked later. The next day I just watched him and took him outside a lot and praised him every time he went potty. No more peeing in my house and no submissive peeing either. He will probably need reminders and to be watched for the first week or at least a few days when he goes to a new environment. There are usually always set backs because it is stressful moving to a new place.

Tucker is a wonderful, fun-loving dog that I could see with a first time dog owner because he is just that easy. He is great with kids even though he is small. Great with cats and people of all ages. Did I mention he hardly barked at my house too? He only barked when all the rest of the pack did. Even then he hardly did. I may have to steal him again to foster because he did so great. My concern is that I live in an area with lots of owls and hawks.  I usually don't see owls but there was one perched right outside the window on the phone line just waiting to "play" with Tucker. I got a little nervous after that.
Here he is all "tuckered" out after all the excitement of the day. Such a good boy. Please consider little Tucker Pants McGee. He will not disappoint you.

Thanks for thinking rescue,

Kalipso Goes Home

I miss my Kalipso girl so much but am just so happy for her. Her Mom came into the shop the other day to drop off some donations for Fluffy Dog and said how great she is doing and how much they love her. She is truly the sweetest, most loving, dog I've ever fostered.  Ok, not true. She is special but I love all my fosters. She was potty trained which made life sooooo easy.

Remember forever family, if you are reading this that she can come and stay here at the Funny Farm anytime. Oh and give her lots of kisses from me.

If Kalipso looks upset it's because Badger somehow turned the hose on and sprayed her and her new Mommy right before the picture. We were all laughing and couldn't believe Badger accidentally did that. It was his sweet send off I suppose. LOL

Thank you so much for rescuing this sweet girl! You will have a wonderful life Kalipso girl.

Hmmm, who will my next foster be? Actually, folks I'm going to take a little break and work on some much needed training for my own pack. I did have a little sleepover with one of my favorite guys that is looking for a foster and forever home, Tucker. You'll have to check out all the fun he had in the next blog.

Until then, thanks for thinking rescue!

Kissing Kalipso

Kalipso loves giving kisses. Recently she tried kissing Badger.  I think she has a dog crush on him.  Here are some pictures that can tell the story better than I can.

As you can see she is not sure about professing her love to Badger quite yet.

Then she worked up the courage and just went for it. Thata girl!

Uh oh. Second thoughts.

Oh, she wanted to check his teeth first. He probably forgot to brush this morning.

This is the kind of sass I usually get from my kids when I tell them to brush their teeth. Not from my dog.
Complete with sound effects. Nice Badger.
Smelling Kalipso's breath.
Returning the favor.
"Ack! Forget it!"

Well, I think her crush is over. Kalipso on the other hand has very nice breath and pearly white teeth. She even comes when called. I know this because sometimes it is difficult letting 5 dogs out at the same time. She has escaped me but always comes right back. I even let her off leash to go down by the pool. Didn't try and run away once. I will not press my luck though and make sure she has a trailer on at least so I can catch her if I need to.  Speaking of the pool, she was very well behaved. She didn't try to go in which is a good thing since we have a newer liner. No dogs allowed in the pool anymore.  We will have to visit a lake to see if she has any swimming capabilities but it's not really imperative that she knows how to swim. That is something her forever family can teach her. My job is just to love her, take care of her, take tons of pictures of her, and share them on her blog.  I do love her and would love to keep her but I just can't. There are so many more dogs to save.  It just blows my mind that someone was throwing her away on the side of the road, in the rain no less. She is by far the easiest and best foster dog I've ever had. Seriously, no complaints.  No accidents in the house, she gets along with my dogs and loves my kids and anyone coming over.  She just kind of goes with the flow. If I'm outside, she wants to help me weed or water the flowers.  If I'm inside she wants to lay on the bed while I'm folding laundry or watching tv. She hardly barks. Only when the other dogs have alerted her that someone is either here or might be here or is walking by. She'll bark a few times but then just kind of observes the situation.

As far as shedding goes, I have not noticed much at all. She sleeps on our bed at night and my husband actually has really bad allergies but does fine with her. I haven't noticed any hair on the bed either.

Well, back to watering the flowers and laundry on my day off.

Thanks for thinking rescue.

Kalipso Goes to Daycare

I took Kalipso to work with me today.  She was a great passenger in the car.  Normally I put dogs in the back of my Explorer but I didn't have the doggy gate up and didn't have time to either so I just put her in the second row.  She stayed there the entire time never once trying to get to the front seats and never bothering me.  Such a thoughtful and smart girl to not disrupt the driver.

I thought she would have fun playing with Usher, the big black puppy.  Well, she didn't mind him but also didn't appreciate when he wanted to hump her. He's not fixed yet.  Kalipso is fixed and told him in the nicest way possible that she didn't appreciate his advances. That she is just not that kind of girl.  They did end up running around together for a little while but both Kalipso and I had to remind him to mind his manners.

Jordan was also very interested in Kalipso. I mean she IS super pretty.
Kalipso was fine with sharing the water bowl.  Usher just wanted to be next to her.

At home with my four dogs, she is learning what it means to be in a pack and understands that the big grey beast is in charge.  I think her favorite friend is Badger because he likes to play with her.  Also they match in color.  Still no accidents. Totally potty trained and goes to the door and kind of does a little dance.  When I ask her if she has to go potty she gets all excited and dances even more.

Kalipso has also discovered that we have cats.  She has met Pumpkin through a gate.  At first I think she was like, "Woah, who are you?" She didn't bark at all or growl. She was very polite and just sniffed for about 5 seconds and decided she didn't really care about the cat.

She definitely loves people which I think is pretty amazing since she was left by the side of the road in the rain by people. I just can't and will never understand how this happens. She is one of the best foster dogs I have ever had. Actually she is the easiest.  I think she would make a great dog for just about anyone.  I could see her forever family being a family with kids or someone that has a dog already.  I could see her being an only dog as well with or without a family. She would be the perfect dog for those first time dog owners too.  She just wants to be loved and would be so easy to train.

I also haven't noticed any shedding but will have to get back to you on that. Her hair is actually pretty soft.

Here she is after our 1 mile walk. She was pretty tuckered out.  My husband even took her on the big walk with the big dogs yesterday. He said she did really good and will start to take her along with the rest of the pack. I have to get a picture of this.  Can you imagine walking 5 dogs at a time? For 5 miles no less? He's a strong, amazing man.
So if you are ready to add this sweetheart to your family please be sure you can take her within 7 days of applying.  Sometimes it takes a week but sometimes less for the approval process.  We love our Fluffy dogs and want to make sure they go to families that will love them and care for them as much as we do.

Thank you for thinking rescue!

Welcome Kalipso!

It has been a few days and my house felt calm and kind of empty. Really Stephanie? Calm? Empty? My house is never either of those for very long. I think I was just missing Joy so much. Then, this beautiful girl Kalipso came up on the transport from Alabama. She is a grey version of Joy. I took this as a sign and decided she was going to be my next foster doggy.

She is sweet and playful and bonus...potty trained! Her first night was fantastic. No accidents and no barking or crying in her kennel. Like at all. She scored big points with my family on both of those accounts.  The boys love her because she loves to snuggle up and watch tv with them.  My husband loves her because she is potty trained. I love her because she is adorable and lets me sleep at night.

Here are a few hundred pictures I have taken so far. LOL

Here she is getting used to the tie out.

Kinsey is getting to know her an showing her around the yard.

Stretching the limits.

Waiting for the boy to finish his meal.
Watching tv with the other boy,

So happy on boy's lap.

Making sure other boy isn't feeling left out.

Taking a short break from everyone.

Boys hands taste good.

Loving the couch and the rubs from boy.

As you can see, she is a wonderful family dog with the coolest markings. She is about 26 lbs. Not sure if she will grow any more. Possibly a little. I think she is under 1 year. Just adorable.  If you are interested in her please check out the tab on the side of the blog marked, "How to adopt."

Thanks for thinking rescue.

Joy Got Adopted!

So happy for my girl Joy. Her furever family found her and took her home.
She will be loved and spoiled. Her new name is Ziggy. So cute! Congratulations Ziggy!

Might be my last post for Joy.

I wanted to get one last post in before she possibly goes to her forever home.  I wanted to share some of the pictures I took of her from doggy daycare the other day.
Here she is playing with Dozer. They play hard and tire each other out. Tucker is on the left side.
He is also a great dog who loves to play.

Joy taking a break at doggy daycare.

                                          Here they go again.

                                          Resting again with Mr. Frog.

I love taking her to work with me. She has so much fun and gets everyone running because she just has to have a toy in her mouth and of course its the only one that all the dogs want. She just loves playing chase.  I will miss this girl so much.  I took care of her and her liter mates when they were only a few months old so have known her almost her entire life.  She has grown into such a sweet, kind, loving, smart, silly girl.  I will forever miss my Joy puppy.  Who is going to wake me up with kisses and stuffies?  It is always bitter sweet.
Thank you for falling in love with her story and pictures Forever Family.  I know Joy is a lucky girl but not as lucky as you are. She is one of a kind.
